Medical Binder

This is probably my #1 new parent tip. I am a very organized type A person. I remember going to college and my mom had all of my medical history documents in a folder for me to take. After noticing how organized she kept all of our medical info over the years (my mom is an RN), I knew I wanted to do the same. At the hospital, there is a lot going on which means there is a lot of information that is given to you at once. The nurses were so impressed with how prepared I was they thought I was on baby #3 when I was actually on experimental baby #1 lol. When I got to the hospital this is the first thing I pulled out. As soon as they admit you they just start handing you hella paperwork and you have no idea what’s important so I just kept it all and stored it here. I kept this on the desk in the room at all times so whenever the nurses stopped by to hand me stuff I told them to put it in the binder, they loved it! This also allowed me to keep track of all their sentimental items like hospital bracelets, umbilical cord stumps, first shot band aids, baby footprints, temporary/sealed birth certificates, etc. In the case of an emergency and parent #2 has to take your little to the pediatrician, there’s no longer an excuse of “What if I don’t know the answers to the Dr.’s questions? It’s probably in the binder.” Also! If your little one is already here, it is NEVER too late to start a binder for them. Gather the info you have, and start it! You will thank yourself in the long run and so will they. I can’t wait to see how your binders turn out!
