When we lived in Houston, I had a separate full bathroom to use as my beauty space, and lots of cabinet space. I didn’t do any decorating and it was really bland, but spacious. When we moved to Detroit, our extra bathroom was only a half bathroom, not a full bathroom. At first, we were just using it as a guest bathroom (even though we would probably never have guests lol) , but I knew that creating my own beauty space would foster my creativity and encourage me to use my makeup more. Although our home in Detroit is bigger, the cabinet/storage space was literally cut in half; so I had to get CREATIVE, CREATIVE.
I started by looking up “DIY DOLLAR TREE bathroom storage” on Pinterest. Key word, DOLLAR TREE. I wanted to do as much as I could on a budget, let’s subtitle this post, “Small Beauty Space on a Budget.” I also used the app called OfferUp and found a yard sale for my makeup storage. I’m going to use photos to break down each step of turning my half bathroom from half ass to half glam!
I bought this plastic 6 drawer storage from a yard sale for 10$. At Target, it was about $40. It was a little dirty but in great condition. I deep cleaned it twice, and used contact paper to spice it up. I bought the contact paper at Target for 6$. I also bought chalk board sticker labels that came with a chalk marker for 7$ on Amazon. It was really easy; all I needed was an X-acto Knife and a measuring tape.
If you follow me on Instagram you know that the Container Aisle at the Dollar Tree is my second home. I found this cabinet door storage idea on Pinterest. All I needed were the adhesive hooks, baskets, and a ruler. It was so easy! I also used various different containers to organize all the other random toiletries.
I love a clean, organized bathroom counter top. I found these connecting acrylic cups for 3$ at Big Lots. The Donut cell phone stand is from the Dollar Tree. This comes in handy so much when I want to watch YouTube videos and do my makeup simultaneously. The rose gold Beauty Blender holder and the black makeup towel were both gifts. Do you guys see cute curly headed black girl figurine? She’s a TWEEZER! So cute right? My mom finds the cutest stuff.
As far as my makeup storage goes, I purchased drawer organizing containers for the smaller items like lashes, lip products, liners, pigments, and compacts.
I was probably the MOST frugal when it came to wall decor. I found the dope cow skull and flower stickers from the Dollar Tree. The frames on the wall, Dollar Tree. The Beauty Blender vase and ribbon, Dollar Tree. The hanging notepad and pen, Dollar Tree. The black makeup pouch, Charming Charlie’s. The photos in the frame, my new printer, lol.
