The Best Part
This is always the hardest section to write because let’s face it, I am a mother obsessed with everything her kid does. But I’ll explain a few specifics. Around 5 1/2 months I introduced a homemade puree mixture of breastmilk, organic mangos, and organic bananas: he got this every other day. HE LOVED IT. The look on his face when he sees a full spoon is priceless; he’ll even grab the spoon from me if I’m taking too long in between bites. This may be a little biased but sometimes when he gets fussy but is dry/fed he simply just wants me, and I cannot describe how amazing that feels. Just knowing that someone is so calmed and at peace by just my presence is one of the most beautiful things about motherhood. This kid is also a fed, haha. He tracks me wherever I go; if I’m in sight, best believe his eyes are locked on his mama.

The Big Shocker
A 6 month old with newborn sleeping habits: he still wakes up every 2.5-3 hours at night. People always ask how do I do it? Why won’t you put him on a stricter schedule? Why don’t you let him cry it out? Don’t you miss sleep? So here’s my answer. He’s been on this earth for like 180 days, he’s new to this life thing, he has so many things to learn and figure out each and everyday so when he’s ready to sleep, he tells me, when he’s hungry, he tells me. He knows his body best, period. I am fortunate enough to stay home with him during these early, crucial parts of his life and I can nap during the day if I really need to during one of his naps. If he had these same habits and I had to wake up early every morning for work, that would be different. But right now, this is my job, and this is what works for us.
The Hardest Part
The longest I have ever gone away from this kid for the last 180 days is 2 hours and this only happens maybe once a month. Rewind another 270 days that he was in belly and with me 24/7. So I must say, separation anxiety is a real thing. Ive gotten better, but it’s still a factor.

All About Dre
I’ve got a mover! and a biter! Dredyn started full blown crawling around 5 1/2 months; he also started pulling himself up on furniture. He understands what “come here” and “ven aqui” means. He responds to his name, if he feels like it lol. Teething started really early for him so he’s been teething since like 3 months. His oral reflexes are STRONG. Everything goes to his mouth and everything gets bitten, including mom and dad’s body parts. He has no teeth yet so it doesn’t hurt, YET.

Half a Year of Motherhood
So 6 months of motherhood in the books, and I must say, even at 6 months, I’m still new to this. I still forget to pack wipes sometimes, I still forget certain toys on road trips, I’m still learning the difference between cries. Moral of the story, I’m still learning. But one thing I do know; I was made for this mom thing.
