Partying While Preggo

Story time! This year I got to attend my 1st company Christmas party with my 1st big girl job! Everything about it was amazing. The venue was a super chic bar/club downtown, the hors d oeuvre’ table was to die for; even though this does not pertain to me, our boss paid for an open bar for 3 hours, so cool!

As soon as my hot date and I arrived, I seriously felt like a celebrity, everyone was freaking out. I’m not sure if it was because I didn’t look like a boy for once, my makeup was beat for the gods, or because it was the debut of my belly that I had been hiding for months. A few professional photographers greeted us at the door and took some amazing pics of Andre and I that I cannot wait to show our little guy someday. My coworkers were asking me so many questions and just gushing over my belly, I was everyone’s personal Buddah statue for the night, but I loved it, and I know Dredyn did too. I was even given some of the most thoughtful gifts by a few of my amazing coworkers and my boss! It honestly felt like a lit mini baby shower. This was also my last day with this job so it could not have worked out more perfect.

Andre and I danced all night, aside from the times I snuck off to the hors d oeuvre’ table to get food wasted. It’s safe to say that this baby has been officially introduced to some Bay Area hip-hop classics, #HyphyBaby lol. I cannot believe I had that much energy to dance and socialize in heels from 7:30 to 11:30pm.

Andre was in contact with some of our football/basketball teammates that night and many of them were at another bar downtown. After 6 months of hibernating, I agreed to let Andre show off my baby bump to some of our close friends. Everyone flipped out, his teammates were running up and down the street, one of my teammates even started crying, it was priceless.

I could tell my energy was running low so I asked Andre if he wanted me to be his Uber for the night and we could meet up at home. We agreed on a reasonable time for him to be home and he was so in shock that I was agreeing to this he kept asking if it was okay, even though it was my idea. Andre had been hibernating with me for these last 6 months and doing everything to constantly make sure that I’m happy. I knew he needed a night with his friends, and what’s cool, is that he is just as close to my former teammates so I knew he was in good hands. I got home around 12:30am; my feet were swollen, my nose was runny, my voice was gone, my eyes were heavy; it was time for this mama to get in bed. I took my shoes off and sat in my car to mentally gather myself for this 5-10 min walk from the parking lot to my apartment building.

Here’s where it gets crazy…

I FELL ASLEEP IN MY F***** CAR! Yes, the doors were locked, yes I was safe (we have 24 hour patrol security), but really Rachol. I woke up to 7 missed calls, even more texts, and a panicking call at 1:45am from Andre with a phone on 2% asking me to unlock our front door. I had no idea how I was going to explain to my extremely protective partner that his pregnant girlfriend was not home. I explained to him exactly what happened and he was more concerned than upset. I quickly got my life together, found some sandals in my trunk, and started my stroll with a fur vest on, heels in my right hand, and my false lashes in the other. I made it home safely but found a distraught, concerned boyfriend waiting outside in the cold looking for me. I felt so bad.

Long story short…

Partying – 1….Preggo Mama – 0
